Learning how to teach your child the best way, is learning how to learn yourself. Teaching your child is a non-stop job that constantly enhances your life and theirs. The reason is, that children bring your past to the front, and make you see yourself in ways you never wanted to. Many times in teaching children you will hear yourself repeating the messages your ears needed to hear, but when you hear it, what do you do with it?
Many people may set it aside, but what about you, what do you do when you are teaching your child? Learning how to teach yourself how to heal and be more self-aware is your ticket to how to teach your child the best way. You should be teaching your child everything you know now so that they have it instilled in their brains like software that doesn’t need to be used just yet. Learning how to teach your child the best way has one foundation- honesty.
A lot of people see their children from a empiricism standpoint, but I view children from a rationalism standpoint. I believe that children are born with much wisdom and knowledge, and for a great example, how do babies, from the moment they are hungry, seek the nipple to eat? Also, why do children know they can do something, though we as “adults” question this? Do you not remember being that young? If you don’t, why don’t you believe your little is more than a blank slate full of love, light, and imagination?
In learning how to teach your little, changing your perspective, even testing its validity is easier than taking on the challenge of implanting what you want into your child, with full responsibility of success. This is stressful. The first lesson I am going to teach you is to take a step back, and let your child go. This means, take a step back and watch your child function in the world. Look at the positives and negatives, then reflect on where they may have gained the wording, sentence structure, or attitude from- who is the example?
Next lesson is to look at their abilities, interests, and needs. Your idea of “needs” is going to be different from your little. They are not worried about clothes, looking nice, or lights (until dark), but they are interested in how much time you are spending with them, how vulnerable you are with them, if you are just leading by words an not examples, or how into their world you are integrating. Their needs, interests, and abilities are going to let you understand who they are, and not idealize who you want them to be.
The third lesson is that your child wants to help! Your child needs to help, and you will be grateful if they do help. In a home there are many chores that can be given- dishes, trash, dusting, mopping, wiping countertops, filling soap, arranging pillows, loading/unloading laundry, watering plants, stocking toilet paper, and more. You have all the capability to share the work with your little so you can see where they thrive. Divide the chores and base your educational means for them off of the above mentioned stimulation. If you are worried, ask why you don’t have trust and move from there, but if you do share chores, don’t forget to cross-train so that they are well rounded and entertained.
The fourth lesson I am going to share is to recognize that each child is different. As you can teach at higher levels because of your education, don’t slack on them based on empirical thinking, elevate! When you elevate you give them a chance to reach the appropriate level for themselves. I believe that if someone were only to have given you the chance to show what you could do so young, instead of what they thought was your limit, your learning, developing, and excitement would have changed your trajection.
These are all gifts- give them to your little. Your kids have until 7yrs to learn 80% of all they know, so don’t hold back. Learn how to teach your child the best way by letting them show you, and opening your mind to what you wanted as a child. Learn you, and be the best you can at teaching that.
