Turning a new leaf in relationships and business is hard. It is taking all that you have worked on and just chucking it out of the window. Many of you probably fear how to start over, but even more feel like a failure because you “wasted” time. I have been here, so I know! The thing though that I have found each time I chucked my “hard work” out the window, is that, the foundation, roots, and most important parts still stay.
I think it is interesting psychologically that (at least my mind) attaches my value to the work, so throwing the work out is like throwing the value out. The reality though is that your work is not your value, but an exemplification of your value, which means you can always do it again! When you are faced with a scenario to turn a new leaf, trash your project, or go through another transition, stop turning to how you failed, wasted your time, or just weren’t good enough so quickly (cough*cough* self). Instead start looking to what has stuck and refocus because the next time you will do better.
Each time that I have refocused, those core parts really stand out, and over time it comes to the forefront, unafraid of truth, and ready to forge forward. I have learned that when it becomes easier to turn your new leaf, you become more ready for possibilities. Being unafraid of your truths will keep you going in these possibilities, and in the hard times when all this leaf turning is happening. Take a moment today and see what core portions are staying, and write them down. Review them, sit on the thought of starting it, or why it could keep coming up. The truths we hold inside are the truths the world needs- find yours and gain a new leaf.
