The Ear of Change And Mind Of New

Daily writing prompt
What is one thing you would change about yourself?
View all responses

The one thing I would change about myself is how much I care about what others think. I mean, they don’t have a real role in my life, yet I let them affect me. I was down for weeks because someone once said I was a “new ageist”. I was down for months because I kept getting rejected by people and businesses. I was down for more months when a business said they wouldn’t let me help their employees because I talked about God, but in the mean time, they provided support for their divorces- isn’t this equal?

See, when I say isn’t this equal, I want to focus on the choice. In the example of divorce, divorce is destruction, but a personal endeavor, and when talking about God, God is creation, but a personal endeavor the same. The choice of the employee to use my services should be there, but the company chose the destruction of this employee, instead of giving an option. I listened to others say the same- no talking about God- and I realized that the world is creating the death of the spirit, and therefore a constant need to reach into the world for approval.

In life approval is what is said we desire as humans, but why take the choice away? In changing how much I listen to others, it flows into others facets of life like relationships, finances, body type, and more. The life that you bring to yourself changes as you listen. The change of listening to someone who said you didn’t have a good enough body, or wanted to know what you could “give them” as their significant other is not what we should let stick to us. The random stranger that says you look nice shouldn’t matter. The perception of self-acceptance shouldn’t be based on others, but the fact you are living in your own truth.

In loving in your own garden, your value and appreciation of self draws the boundary lines, creates the red flags we must listen to, and choose a new path. In changing my one thing, I suggest you do it too. Your ears need to hear the true points of hope, encouragement, and direction instead of looking at others judging, lusting, or hating. Satan is going to be at every corner waiting to take down the strongest part of you and in being aware, loss of self™ isn’t as easy to control. Your view on life helps you through, so shut off your ears, open your heart, and find your treasure again. Change you through refinement, and discover the difference, because remember, you were made to make the difference.
