Healing with melanin is hard at times, if it even happens at all. Recently, I saw a post, that many were offended by. It was a snippet of a “The Proud Family” episode that demanded reparation, and sates that the US is built on the back of slavery. As many people seemed outraged over this, and felt it was very unpatriotic and demeaning, I decided to write to someone who covered this, expressing my viewpoint, and I want to know if you agree or not. In grammatical flaws and all, here it is:

"I wanted to privately comment on the proud family post, and see where you could use this as a platform because i have seen other posts lists on this that are similar. 

I grew up in charleston, sc, with 2 plantations down the street ans mixed black and white. I went to school with majority white my whole life, and never fit in either group the way I aspired, but I do have a feeling about this video and would love a conversation. In this video there are these points I would ask: 1) the majority of people who are upset about it, are they black, 2) unlike the holocost , indian, and asian mistreatment, why have blacks been the only group not apologized to on a (inter)national level, 3) if as a tribe you were making bank from trapping other tribes/POW you wanted to get rid of, why would they not sell them, 4) if schools were looking to better the black community why do they start all blacks' history with slavery and not give a backdrop for where, why, or what the cultural means were; as well not promote black wall street to inspire black america to change? 

The reason i bring these points up is because so many people want black people (not all of whom even come directly from africa- bermuda, hispanics, moors, etc) to stop feeling hurt because current white people didnt hold slaves, but forget if they are not apologized to, they get to hold a grudge, so why since black people were mistreated are they not allowed the same grudge for injustice. Emanicaption was on some opinions coming anyways, for others just given, which left blacks free by law, but what about in truth? Were rhe whites, aho hated them for so long, just magically noce they couldn't yell, beat, or kill them with their superiority complex? Did they not teach their children the same, and in protection would blacks not teach their children white people werre not good for them? 

Yes, blacks did hold slaves, but those few do not count equal to the whites who did nor number or slaves. Yes, slavery happens today, but this is a major point in history that yearly gets brought back up to students with no aspiration of making them better as in providing a truer start than slavery. If bringing someone profit to continue to build a company means the employees make it happen, then the same is with slavery, blacks did build the country. Like i said I am not here to argue, but maybe shed some light on some things that people don't see...maybe you can run with it, maybe we can chat more...your call. Thanks for listening❤️"
