I was recently presented with this post, & want to discuss opinions on my response…

Well to start he is right on his facts. My view on his point is that to celebrate a culture that brought pain, that is ongoing, should be the furthest from our minds, but the key is many people it as the institution.
When you view christianity as an institution, to dedicate and pay to an engrained pain seems silly, but he seems to forget, and some practicing persons, that searching for God is different than attending a service.
Christianity is not the services, but the everyday acts, the desire to lean on God because native americans and africans already had a high consciousness of a higher being, so Jesus and God were probably almost as names for their beliefs. The harsh reality of how it was used to diminish cultures and such is besides the point.
So, what do you say is yes this is hard to believe, but even through the bad God sought it for good, and now instead of an institution it has been translated into a new connection with the already known higher power.
We do not go to an institution, but we find comfort and community while we each search our own journey to become more enlined, awakened, and enlightened. We follow Jesus as he is the light of the world, to light the world with our actions, and follow our faith back to the very roots we were taken from.
