The 3 ways you can know if God is speaking to you are:
- You’re feeling low, crying and looking for what to do, and inspiration or a person comes with a task or is distracting
- You just have a horrible day, and the next day everything goes perfect; a complete contrast, and it makes you feel life will be okay again
- You share with God you need to know He hears you, and you turn to the right verse, hear the right words, or see something that let’s you know you are not alone
Though these may seem weird, expressing feelings to God should not be. It should feel normal, as you are not alone. For me in specific, one day- a bad day- I looked up at a picture. It was probably a year after purchasing two, and looking at them daily, I told God I needed to know I wasn’t alone. I kept looking at this image and all of the sudden, I saw two other feathers translucently sitting behind the main one. For the first time, this miniature, yet important detail was visible for me; those feathers had always been there. I knew in that moment God spoke because I never saw it before that very day, and I asked to know I wasn’t alone.
In moments like these, when you know you are directly heard, and your personal request was answered, it is amazing, it is the literal, “visible” confirmation that your prayers were heard, and that feels good that God wants to talk. He is always available to listen. This was a private revelation for myself as I stared at those two feathers, and as it proved God, or the Trinity are living- the universe is living too- and life is not a stagnant experience.
In knowing when God speaks to you in loss of self™, you may feel special and awkward, but these are building moments of faith. As you grow spiritually, you may find God is silent, awaiting your choices, faith, and gratitude. You are not alone then either, with compassion as your connection means. Loving others is one of the highest forms of your purpose, so don’t think any experience is a waste, because yours is not!
Jesus learned many things on Earth, but even as He hung on the cross, knew it was going to get bad, or was irritated with His followers, He still had compassion for God’s greater plan. In your life story, learn your lessons so you can live your dreams with wisdom. You are loved by God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, and as you were made in His image, be aware of listening to God, for He has words.
